Mindfulness is ingrained in many ancient traditions, including Buddhism and Yoga. t’s a word that’s been around for centuries but was popularized by Jon Kabat-Zinn in the United States in the 1970s. Many of us don’t know what it means. Mindfulness is a type of meditation and is now being used in medical settings, businesses, schools, and prisons. It is a word describing the mind being aware of the present, of what is happening in and around the person. For many years, the word mindfulness has been used in the Eastern world to describe the development of the mind, and the word has made its way into the Western world as a way to describe being aware of the present moment.
