Elon Musk was born in the year 1971 in Pretoria, one of the three capitals of South Africa. His father was an engineer and his mother was a model and nutritionist. He is the eldest of three children of an ambitious family. His brother Kimball Musk is currently an environmentalist and capitalist. Tosca Musk is his sister and is a very famous and award-winning director and producer. Elon Musk became a billionaire at the age of 20 by selling his startup Zip2 to Compaq Computer division. Musk made the headlines in 2012 when a rocket was launched by SpaceX to send the first commercial vehicle to the International Space Station.
Musk started school at an early age. He attended Waterkloof House Preparatory School and was graduated from the Pretoria Boys High School. According to Musk, these years were very harsh for him. Musk discovered computers using the Commodore VIC-20 when he was only 10. He learned to program and at the age of twelve, he sold Blastar, a game to Spectravideo. At the age of 17, Musk moved to Canada to avoid serving in the South African army, whose main task in the late 1980s was to impose apartheid. Later, he got the citizenship of Canada through his mother.
After two years at Queen’s University, Musk was transferred to the University of Pennsylvania. He took two specialties, but his time there was not all work and no play. With another student, he bought a 10-room house and used it as an Adhoc nightclub. Musk earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Wharton College. The two leaders talk about the direction that Misk will take later, but physics left the biggest impression in his mind.
Musk was 24 when he moved to California to earn a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University. As the Internet exploded and Silicon Valley rode, Misk had business visions dancing in his head. He left the doctoral program after only two days.In the year 1995, Musk and his younger brother Kimball launched Zip2, an electronic programming software company that helps newspapers create online city guides. Then the company was bought and Musk used his money to buy Zip2 to create X.com, designed to shape the future of the banking industry. X merged with a company called Confinity and the resulting company known as PayPal. Musk was fired from the company before eBay bought it. After PayPal escaped, Musk helped generate money to start an electric car called Tesla. You may know the rest.
His early interest in reading science fiction philosophy and fiction is reflected in his sense of idealism and his interest in human progress. His goal is to work in areas that have been identified as essential for our future, namely the Internet, the transition to renewable energy sources and the colonization of space. Working with PayPal, SolarCity, SpaceX, and Tesla Motors, he challenged critics and progressed on all three frontiers.
