During the time of corona and staying in home, short communication channels are important, so staying in touch with colleagues without major detours is the least part of most collaboration. Business messengers and collaboration tools are available for doing your job.

While staying and working in home, the messenger comes with pretty much everything you need for collaboration. Video conferences are encouraged for solving office tasks. If that’s not enough for you, you can also drill it out with extensions . Small teams use Slack for free, for larger rounds you can start from 6.25 euros per month. We show you how to get more out of the tool here .

The currently largest Slack competitor is Microsoft Teams . Not too long ago , this even outperformed the competition and is extremely popular , especially in the current crisis period of corona . The Messenger is conveniently part of Microsoft’s Office 365 package , the essentials of which start at EUR 4.20 per user per month. Therefore, its greatest strength is the direct integration of other office services such as Word or Outlook. Alternatively, up to 300 members can use it free of charge with limited functionality.

As part of Google’s G Suite, you can alternatively use Hangouts chats . The messenger replaced the classic hangouts not so long ago and, as a major advantage, offers full integration and interfaces with the other Google tools from G Suite such as Docs, Drive, Gmail and the video call service Meet. The prerequisite here is, however, a paid subscription  for normally at least 5.20 euros per user and month – but currently it only costs you 4.68 euros. The good old Hangouts remains as a free variant, but it only offers basic chat and communication functions. Read here whether the upgrade is generally worthwhile for you .
